Mayroong Pag-asa (With Hope)

Mayroong Pag-asa (With Hope) is a collection of images from me and my team's trip to the Philippines during the summer of 2018. We were fortunate enough to receive a grant from the Everett Program at UCSC to conduct our project with our partner organization, Center for People's Media (CPM), a non-profit journalism and media group based in Manila, Philippines. Over the course of three weeks, we worked closely with union groups and their members. My team and I, along with CPM, led a weekend long seminar in which we taught these union workers basic graphic design, photography, and videography skills to enhance their campaigning skills. For the remaining time of our stay, a few union leaders welcomed us to visit their work sites. From office tours to group lunches, shared laughter and tears, we got to know these community members on a more intimate level and were blessed with the opportunity to hear them speak on their various experiences, work and goals. These images provide just a glimpse into those special moments and captures the hopeful spirit these individuals carry as they continue to persevere in their efforts to improve life for themselves and generations to come.
